Ainsley Cunningham is a visual artist born in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia and is a graduate of NSCAD U, 2014 with a BFA, Major in Fine Art. Her artistic practice is currently based in Halifax, Nova Scotia and is primarily focused in painting, photography, and drawing which often results in a mixture of qualities from each medium in her work.
Ainsley has participated in several group shows and is currently creating a body of work for her upcoming solo graduation exhibition at the Anna Leonowens Gallery in the end of June 2014. Her work is concerned with the investigation of human relationships with the natural environment by drawing botanical specimens collaged with figurative photography to address issues such as how integrating oneself with nature affects well-being. Ainsley investigates this issue by using the human figure as both subject and medium to create large scale digital photographic collages and drawings configured into nature inspired motifs.
